A Persian after being partly shaved

This is Smokey found roaming around in a distressed state by one of the A.I.D. drivers, his fur very badly matted and he was limping. At the sanctuary he was of course fed before being seen by the vet. It was decided that the fur in some places was so matted that for Smokeys sake a shave was the only option.

The limp, it was discovered, was a badly ulcerated foot which must have caused him incredible pain and discomfort. The decision was made to amputate the leg.
